LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Kyle Wiltjer is transferring from Kentucky to Gonzaga. Wiltjer's father confirmed the move to CBSSPORTS.com.
Wiltjer announced in late June he was considering a transfer and visited Gonzaga. He then appeared to be having second thoughts and a decision was expected following the World Univeristy Games. The 6-10 forward played for Canada.
Wiltjer put out a message on twitter saying, "I'm choosing to transfer to Gonzaga because I feel they have a proven plan in place to help develop players similar to me, which has seen great results. I believe with hard work I can maximize my development at Gonzaga.
UK coach John Calipari tweeted a message saying he's disappointed to see Wiltjer go, but he told him he'll always be a part of the Big Blue Nation.
Wiltjer, a Portland native, averaged 10.2 points last season for Kentucky.
