Witt leaves baseball Cats, joins football

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - UK outfielder Lucas Witt is changing sports midway through his college career.

Witt, who played football and baseball at Lexington Christian, is leaving the baseball Wildcats to join the football team. Witt will join Mark Stoops' squad as a wide receiver.

Witt hit just .184 in 76 plate appearances last season with the Wildcats. As a sophomore, Witt hit .319.

Witt was an All-State quarterback at LCA, leading the Eagles to a state championship.

He will have two years of eligibility remaining.
