Woodford County opened state baseball tournament play with a 4-3 victory over Powell County Monday night.
In other opening games in Lexington, St. Xavier shutout Mercer County 4-0. South Warren defeated Central Hardin 3-1, eliminating the defending state champion. Bishop Brossart beat Pikeville 4-2.
