Mayfield not on Chicagoland entry list

Updated: 07/06/2009 - NASCAR driver Jeremy Mayfield's team isn't on the entry list for Saturday's race at Chicagoland Speedway. Mayfield, whose drug suspension was overturned by a federal judge last week, still could attempt to qualify for the race. Under NASCAR rules, teams have until one hour before the first practice to register. That gives Mayfield until Thursday afternoon, but he would have to pay a late entry fee of several thousand dollars. He also could make the race if hired to drive for another team.

McNair's Death Ruled A Homicide

Updated: 07/05/2009 - Shot twice in the head and two more times in the chest, former NFL quarterback Steve McNair was the victim of a homicide, police declared Sunday. But authorities wouldn't say it was a murder-suicide - even with his 20-year-old girlfriend dead at his feet from a single bullet. McNair had been dating Sahel Kazemi for several months, and Nashville police spokesman Don Aaron said Sunday that a semiautomatic pistol was found under her body. She was shot in the head.

UK Seeks to move Gillispie lawsuit

Updated: 06/29/2009 - The University of Kentucky Athletics Association says former Kentucky basketball coach Billy Gillispie has sued the wrong people and in the wrong place. The athletics association has asked a federal judge in Texas to either dismiss Gillispie's lawsuit over his firing or move the case to Kentucky. In a motion filed Friday in federal court, the association's attorneys say the school has minimum contact with the state of Texas, giving the court there no jurisdiction to hear Gillispie's claims.
