Posted: 10/04/2007 - Track star Marion Jones admits doping before 2000 Sydney Games By The Associated Press Marion Jones admitted using steroids before the 2000 Olympics in a recent letter to close family and friends, The Washington Post reported Thursday. Jones, who won five medals in Sydney, said she took "the clear" for two years, beginning in 1999, and that she got it from former coach Trevor Graham, who told her it was flaxseed oil, the newspaper reported.

Much of that came because of his new quarterback, freshman Chris Smelley, who threw for 279 yards and two touchdowns to lead the 16th-ranked Gamecocks (4-1, 2-1 Southeastern Conference) to a 38-21 win over Mississippi State on Saturday.

It's Kentucky's first top ten ranking since 1977, the Cats are also ranked eigth in the ESPN-USA Today Coaches Poll. The AP also has a new number one ranked team this week as LSU barely edged out Southern Cal for the top spot.

The Colonels (3-2, 2-0 OVC) held possession of the ball for less than a third of the game, but intercepted five Bulldog (3-2, 1-1) passes.

The Kentucky quarterback's record-setting streak ended Saturday against Florida Atlantic, though little else went wrong for Woodson and the 14th-ranked Wildcats in a 45-17 victory.

Posted: 09/28/2007 - COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina safety Emanuel Cook had a felony gun charge dismissed at a preliminary hearing Friday. Cook, 19, of Riviera Beach, Fla., had been arrested last month and charged with unlawful possession of a pistol. The felony charge carries a maximum penalty of five years in jail and a $2,000 fine.
