Nominations now being taken for youth sports leadership award

LEXINGTON – The Bluegrass Sports Commission is currently accepting nominations for the 2013 Jim Host Youth Sports Award. The honor will be presented at the second annual Bluegrass Sports Awards on Jan. 31, 2013, at the Marriott Griffin Gate Resort & Spa.

The award is named after Jim Host, a sports marketing icon. The lifelong Kentuckian built Host Communications in Lexington which grew into one of the largest collegiate sports marketing companies in the nation.

Individuals nominated for this prestigious award should meet or exceed the following criteria. We are looking for those who have dedicated themselves to enhancing the lives of Kentucky youths through sports, whether through their occupation, as a volunteer, coach, administering or otherwise assisting sports programs for Kentucky youths. They should conduct themselves professionally in all aspects of their work and make significant contributions in the communities in which they live and have a direct impact on the lives of Kentuckians.

Nominations can be made by visiting the BSC website, www.bluegrasssports.org. Simply fill out the nomination form with name and reasons for the submission. The deadline to submit suggestions is November 15.

The winner will be selected by the Bluegrass Sports Awards committee and announced prior to the awards banquet. The 2012 winner was former Governor Martha Layne Collins who created the Bluegrass State Games in 1984.
