LEXINGTON, KY (WKYT) - The carousel of coaches took another strange turn at the end of the 2012 season for Dunbar. Derrick Thomas, who was an administrator in the school, was unexpectedly relieved of his duties. The Bulldogs have had a revolving door at the top spot lately, but maybe no longer. Paul Rains, a man who himself has made seven previous coaching stops, is the 24-year veteran coach who is responsible for turning around the program. Rains won a Class-A state title at LCA in 2009, but this might his biggest undertaking yet.
Dunbar's glory days include a state runner-up finish in 1996 and class 4-A state semifinal appearances in 2002 and 2003. That seems like a lifetime ago.
