LEXINGTON, KY (WKYT) - Mark Peach returned to his alma mater for the 2005 season. The Bearcats went just 1-9, but what it started was a rekindling of football pride. Since 2006, the Bearcats are averaging nearly nine wins a season, and are a serious contender for the 5-A crown. Anderson County returns 19 starters from last year's squad. Back for a senior campaign are quarterback Zach Carmichael and Ross Cox leading the way. Those are the biggest spokes to the wheel rolling towards Bowling Green.
Seven straight years the 'Cats have rushed and passed for more than 2,000 yards in the same season. If Anderson County is to achieve their ultimate goal, they will have to do it without a bye week during the season. The Pride of Lawrenceburg plays two preseason games, eliminating their bye week. So, long story short, if the Cats play for the 5-A title, they will have to put on the pads for an unheard of 17 straight weeks.
