Bryan Station Defenders have a great offense

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Bryan Station may be the Defenders, but in recent years they've been known for their offense. They had a prolific passing attack, led by quarterback Ora Johnson. He graduated last season.

Coach Frank Parks knows 'Bo' will be missed.

"The biggest thing with Ora was that he knew the offense real well. Sometimes people may have been out of position, he was able to put people in correct positions but with experience at the receiver spot and all them coming back, it's not as big of a deal as it would have been."

Bryan Station will need a talented group of wide outs to help the new quarterback along, whomever wins that job.

"The quarterback has to be a leader on the field. We try to be leaders on the field, but we can only help so much," said wide receiever C.J. Walker. "He has control over the linemen running backs and receivers. Without him there's no team."

Parks says despite a few changes in the two-deep, the offense will still look to put up big numbers on the scoreboard.

"There's not much difference in what we need to do as far as a new quarterback coming in. We still going to try to stretch the field a little bit and let our guys play in open space."

The Defenders will have their work cut out for them in a district with Henry Clay, Dunbar and defending state champ Scott Co.

It's like a playoff every Friday night in our district, so it kind of prepares us for the playoffs."

For Bryan Station the goal is simple.

"Like one of our coaches says,' just prepare to practice on Thanksgiving Day' and everything else will take care of itself," said defensive back Devin Key.
