LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - 19 seniors and coach Joker Phillips will say goodbye on Saturday to Kentucky fans at Commonwealth Stadium, when the Wildcats face Samford in the last home game of the season.

The Wildcats used the bye week to regroup, refresh and reflect, after being soundly whipped by Vanderbilt, 40-0, on Nov. 3, which led to Phillips being fired two days later.

"We did a lot of reflecting," senior defensive end Taylor Wyndham said on Tuesday. "We did a lot of getting corrections done and getting guys healthy," he added.

"We really didn't change the way we approach practice," said Randy Sanders, UK's offensive coordinator. "We're still coaching guys that are playing, trying to win."

Some teams like to get more reps in for younger, less experienced players, during open dates. Kentucky is already playing its youngsters, so the coaches gave the team more rest.

"We didn't slight the young guys any," Sanders said. "We stuck with the plan we had. Let's start preparing for Samford, get that game plan ready, continue to try and improve as we go, but let's not beat them up. Everybody needs a break."

UK and Samford kickoff at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. The game is televised by CSS.
