LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - UK freshman quarterback Patrick Towles was sidelined with a high ankle sprain against Mississippi State. He will make a return to the practice field Tuesday and coach Joker Phillips indicated he could play.

At his weekly Monday news conference Phillips said Towles and safety Mike Benton would be day-to-day and practice Tuesday. Cornerback Cartier Rice and cornerback/safety Martavious Neloms are also day-to-day and would practice Wednesday.

Phillips said he didn't know if Towles could play at Missouri. "If Towles can play he'll play. It will be the same situation that we had in the Mississippi State game. He hasn't taken a snap. We'll get him out there and we'll see tomorrow."

Kentucky will play Missouri this weekend for the first time as a member of the SEC. The Wildcats have played only two games all-time against the Tigers, winning both. 7-0 in Columbia in 1965 and 12-6 in Lexington in 1968.
