UK's Williams out for season, ending Wildcat career

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Kentucky running back CoShik Williams is out for the season, effectively ending his career with the Wildcats.

Coach Joker Phillips made the announcement Wednesday morning, following practice.

"He has a torn labrum in his hip and will have that repaired as soon as possible," Phillips said.

Williams suffered the injury in a loss to Louisville.

Williams is a fifth-year senior from Hiram, Ga. and isn't eligible for a medical redshirt.

"Next man up," Phillips said. "That's the attitude you have to take."

Williams started his career at UK as a walk-on, but became a starter after Josh Clemons went down with an injury. Phillips said Williams' situation is heartbreaking.

"I feel the same way for him. Not for us, for him," Phillips said. "Because the guy worked so hard. Everybody knows his story. The guy came here as a non-scholarship guy, worked his tail off to be a starter and now is out for the rest of the season."

Phillips said Raymond Sanders, Jonathan George and Dyshawn Mobely are next up on the depth chart.
