Cats fall in Super Regional opener

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - The Kentucky softball Wildcats opened Super Regional play on Saturday in Tempe, Ariz., falling to Arizona State, 5-4.

UK trailed 5-1, but in the sixth inning, touched Sun Devils' starter Dallas Escobedo for three solo home runs. Lauren Cumbess, Alice O'Brien and Christian Stokes homered to cut the lead to 5-4.

Arizona State retired the Wildcats in order in the seventh to end the game.

Game 2 in this best-of-three series is Sunday, beginning at 5:00. That game will be televised on ESPN. Game 3, if necessary, will begin at 8:00 on ESPN2.
