LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky football team had two practices on Thursday. But what was the best thing the Wildcats did this day?
"We went swimming this morning and I think they had a good time," Coach Rich Brooks said following the second Wildcat workout. "It's that beat-up period of fall camp. We have a bunch of guys that are nursing 'ow-ies' (minor injuries). The guys who did practice, practiced pretty good this afternooon, but the ranks are thinning out a little bit.
"The injuries aren't significant at this point," Brooks continued. "They're all bumps and bruises, sprained ankles, things that should be well within 2-3 days. Maybe some of them should be well tomorrow."
Thursday marked the 10th consecutive day of preseason practice, including five practices in the last three days. The players and coaches are putting in 14-hour days, primarily practices and meetings, beginning each day at 8 a.m. and ending at 10 p.m.
Brooks indicated that Friday's practice would emphasize review of assignments as the Wildcats will have a scrimmage on Saturday.
