LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - The last time Kentucky played Tennessee,
the Wildcats rode a 54-point performance from Jodie Meeks to an
emphatic road victory in Knoxville.
Coach Billy Gillispie, however, says the Volunteers (16-9, 7-4
Southeastern Conference) are much-improved since Meeks'
school-record outburst. Gillispie may be right, but Tennessee has
struggled of late, losing at Ole Miss on Wednesday to drop into a
four-way tie with Kentucky (18-8, 7-4), Florida and South Carolina
in the SEC East.
The Wildcats are coming off a 77-64 loss to Vanderbilt on
Tuesday, a game they played without sophomore center Patrick
Patterson, who is nursing an ankle injury. Gillispie said Patterson
practiced on Thursday and could play against the Volunteers.
