LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - University of Kentucky basketball coach
John Calipari says he's enjoyed his whirlwind tour of the state but
is ready to start coaching.
Calipari, on Wednesday, said he's not intimated by the sky-high
expectations facing the Wildcats. Calipari replaced Billy Gillispie
last spring and his hiring created a frenzy among Kentucky's rabid
fan base. In the sixth months since his hiring, Calipari has been
named a Kentucky Colonel and visited every part of the state.
The reaction has been overwhelming, he said, but he knows
ultimately he will be judged on how the Wildcats play. Kentucky's
season begins with Big Blue Madness, Oct. 16, and they open the
regular season against Morehead State Friday, Nov. 13.
