Big Blue Sports Archive preserving Kentucky's storied history

It's a priceless collection any UK fan would treasure.

Pictures, game programs, films, and much more, all bringing the rich history of Kentucky Athletics to life.

Now, you'll be able to find it all at one place.

The endowment for the Big Blue Sports Archive has been more than 30 years in the making.

This initiative is to preserve Kentucky's storied history in athletics, in all sports, and make it available to the public.

To date, UK has preserved one of the finest college sports archives in the country, with more than 4,000 videotapes, 1,500 films, and 10,000 photographs.

There's also many interviews with players and coaches.

Currently, fans can go to exploreuk.uky.edu and look at materials. Eventually, everything will be available to fans with one click of a button.

Donations are key in this type of endeavor. Recently, Claude Sullivan's family donated his broadcasts.

A celebration for the archive is being held Tuesday night at the Marriott Griffin Gate Resort in Lexington.

UK Basketball Coach John Calipari is the keynote speaker at the event.
