LEXINGTON. Ky (WKYT) - For an 11th consecutive year the Blue Team picked up the win at the annual Blue/White Game by the slim margin of 89-88. The scrimmage was played in front of a crowd of 12,016 at Rupp Arena.
The first half was dominated by the White squad, and at the break the White team had a 46-38 advantage. A Kyle Wiltjer 3-pointer early in the second half tied the game at 49. From there the Blue team took the lead and never gave it back.
Archie Goodwin led all scorers with 32 points and added nine rebounds. Kyle Wiltjer totaled 28 points and nine rebounds. Alex Poythress tallied 25 points and six boards. Ryan Harrow notched 20 points and a game-high six assists. Willie Cauley-Stein recorded a double-doubled with 14 points and 12 rebounds. He also had 5 blocks, and Nerlens Noel had seven blocked shots to go along with his nine points and eight rebounds.
Kentucky opens the regular season Fri. Nov. 9 vs. Maryland at the Barclays Center Classic in Brooklyn, N.Y. The game will be at 8:30 p.m. and televised by ESPN.
