LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - UK coach John Calipari says he's doing some different things as he takes his team through semester break. Kentucky hosts Marshall Saturday in Rupp Arena, its final game before taking a holiday break.
Calipari has been trying to inject his team with a more competitive spirit and he's not saying what they are. "I'm not going to talk about some of the things we did because they're really interesting, outside the box, and I think I'm going to do it another week or so. I may tell everybody what we're doing because I don't know if anybody else is doing it."
Calipari also says his players are losing weight and they need to eat more, five or six times a day. NCAA rules prevent it to keep the court level for all schools. "There's a school that couldn't afford to feed their guys like that, so you're not going to feed your guys. Whether they need it or not, that's not what this is about. Whether a high-level athlete needs to be fed, feed them because they are burning up tons of calories, feed them."
Marshall comes into Rupp Arena Saturday aftenoon with a 7-5 record. Tipoff is at 4:00p.m. on ESPN2.
