LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Kentucky survived a serious scare against Cleveland State Tuesday night. John Calipari never thought his team was going to lose.
Trailng by ten with 7:41 remaining, UK outscored the Vikings 24-7 making play after play. "Who can make the plays, who's not afraid to make plays?" Calipari asked. " I told them after the game, you don't worry about losing. You play to win and that's how I try to coach, I'm never thinking that we're losing. My whole mentality is, we're going to win, how are we going to win? Losing doesn't ever enter my mind until the horn goes off and I say dang, they got us."
Cleveland State coach Gary Waters complimented Kentucky. "They competed in that last five minutes, ya know they didn't want to lose. And that's how you got to play the game in the last minutes and our guys got to figure that out. Once we figure it out we'll be o.k."
UK hosts Eastern Mcichigan Wednesday at 4:00pm. in Rupp Arena. The game will be televised live by FSN. It will be replayed at 6:00 p.m. on The CW Lexington.
