UK Coach John Calipari appeared on ESPN's Pardon the Interruption and commented on a number of subjects including Thursday night's NBA draft.
How will Anthony Davis fit in New Orleans?
"I think it's going to be fabulous. I'll tell you this: he's one of those guys that will make everyone around him better. As they continue to build that team – he's unselfish, he took the fourth or fifth-most shots on our team – he does all the little things that help you win. Now they're going to have to surround him with other good players but he'll make everyone on his team better and they'll absolutely love playing with him."
Could Michael Kidd-Gilchrist be slipping in the draft?
"They're all crazy. Let me tell you, of all the players, even on my team, there were times when someone had to take over the game and he did that at least 15 times last season. There are other good players that score points but I want to know who just grabbed onto the game and had a will to win and either did on defense, scoring, passing, rebounding, he did it. He will be the face of some organization in the next three to four years and if people pass on him he's one of those guys you pass on and look back and go, 'Oh my gosh, we passed on him?'"
What about your new team?
"I'm allowed to work out with my guys for the first time this summer and I've had four workouts and after we get off this show I'm going right to work out my new team. Don't tell anybody but we're going to be good again."
Has the NBA called
"I've had calls but you know what, I'm so happy here. This place, I want you to think about, someone said you have to win again. At the end of the day if I have a chance when it's said and done and I'm finished to change the lives of 70 families. You're impacting so many people."
