Now that John Calipari has won his first national championship, the speculation surely will begin whether or not the coach will jump to the NBA.

In an effort to get out in front of rumors, the coach went on the offensive, telling a couple of national media outlets that he was staying in Lexington.

Calipari told the Sporting News that he isn’t leaving Kentucky, but still plans to attend NBA games.

“You don’t think I’m going to watch Derrick Rose play, or John Wall, or DeMarcus Cousins or Patrick Patterson?” Calipari told Sporting News on Wednesday. “I’ve done that my whole career. I’m not changing my lifestyle because somebody want to put a rumor out.”
Also on Wednesday, the coach told ESPN’s Andy Katz that he isn’t going to coach the New York Knicks, or any other NBA team anytime soon.

“Kentucky is the best job in basketball coaching,” Calipari told ESPN.com. “Why would I leave? We just won the national title. We’re chasing UCLA.”

Calipari said no NBA teams have contacted him.

"All of those teams know I'm not doing anything," Calipari said. "I'm not changing. I'm going to continue to see my friends who coach in the NBA and see my former players who play in the NBA. I'm going to continue to go to games."
