WALTHAM, Mass. (AP) - The Boston Celtics say they're not actively trying to trade point guard Rajon Rondo.
Danny Ainge, the team's president of basketball operations, said Thursday "I'm not" actively seeking a deal for Rondo amid reports he's willing to explore the possibility.
Ainge said that trade rumors are part of the business of basketball and that good players will be mentioned in such rumors at one time or another. But he said his plan in the wake of the end of the NBA lockout is to keep his core of Rondo, Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen together.
The Celtics have only six players under contract. They've made a qualifying offer to a seventh, Jeff Green, that allows them to match any other offers he receives.
