LEXINGTON, KY - (WKYT) - Doug Collins is the head coach of the Philadelphia 76ers. He's been around the NBA game for decades. Collins loves the upside of the number one pick in this year's NBA Draft, former Wildcat Anthony Davis. One aspect of Davis' game, which Collins admired, was the way Davis handled being an Olympian this year. "I'm a big observer and I watch what kind of team you are, " Collins said glowingly. " He (davis) went in with mouth closed, ears open, eyes open, he was a sponge, take it all in and listen. The guys all loved him. The guys on the team, they admired the way he came in. The sky is the limit for this young guy."
Davis was chosen number one by the New Orleans Hornets in the 2012 NBA Draft, becoming the second Wildcat to achieve that honor. John Wall was the top choice of the Washington Wizards in 2010. Wall was more outwardly entertaining, at times, but Davis has a keen since of understanding his role.
