Anthony Davis of national champion Kentucky is on hand in Los Angeles to accept the John R. Wooden Award as the nation's top college basketball player.
The freshman was at Friday's ceremony to collect the last in a slew of player of the year awards he earned while helping the Wildcats earn their eighth national title. Davis was a popular target for autograph hunters before the event at the Los Angeles Athletic Club. He was announced as the Wooden winner during the Final Four last weekend in New Orleans.
Davis has had an eventful visit to the West Coast, with one of his suitcases getting lost on his way from Lexington, Ky., and meeting with Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant earlier Friday.
Brittney Griner of undefeated national champion Baylor was the leading candidate to win the women's award, which was to be presented during the ceremony.
