LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Cleveland State assistant coach Jermaine Kimbrough went on twitter last night claiming the officials coast his team an upset of Kentucky. “College basketball is at all time low. I have never been cheated the way we got cheated in Rupp Arena tonight. Let the kids play.” The comments were removed Tuesday.
After the game Cleveland State head coach Gary Waters was critical of the college game's new rules but he wouldn't criticize the refs. "You don't want to get in that comment." said Waters. Literally, these new rules and all the crap, I really don't want to get into that because it's disappointing." Waters went on, "It's really disappointing and it's really hurting the game of basketball I believe."
Kentucky shot 35 free throws in the game, Cleveland State 15. Waters went on, "I want to check here, let me see something. Well this was a little bit more realistic game. There's 50 free throws instead of 75-100. when you get these fouls and all these calls, I don't think it's good for fans, I really don't. I think the game is stopped, it's impeded."
Uk rallied from 10 points down in the second half to beat Cleveland State 68-61.
