Ex-Cat Woods leading Miss. Valley to best season in years

ITTA BENA, Miss. (AP) - Sean Woods dealt with plenty of adversity as a player at Kentucky.

Now in his fourth-year as coach of Mississippi Valley, Woods has often called on those experiences - with favorable results.

The tiny school in the Mississippi Delta is having its best season in years; the Delta Devils are 15-0 in Southwestern Athletic Conference play.

Mississippi Valley has clinched the league's regular-season championship, which comes with an automatic berth to the National Invitation Tournament. But for the ultimate prize - a spot in the NCAA tournament - the Delta Devils must win the conference tournament in Dallas.

Woods will always be linked to his time at Kentucky, where he was one of "The Unforgettables," a quartet of Wildcats who brought the program back to prominence in the early 1990s.
