NEW ORLEANS, LA. - Former Kentucky Wildcat pitcher Chris Rusin tossed the Iowa Cubs' first no-hitter in 30 years Wednesday, beating the New Orleans Zephyrs 3-0 in New Orleans.
Rusin, a left-hander, allowed just three base runners -- two walks and a catcher's interference call in the ninth inning.
Wednesday's feat was the 14th no-hitter in franchise history. The last to accomplish the milestone was Reggie Patterson on Aug. 21, 1984, against Omaha.
Rusin helped his own cause at the plate, finishing 2-for-4 with two RBIs on a single in the second inning.
The Cubs drafted Rusin in the 4th round of the 2009 MLB amateur draft.
