John Calipari has his first commitment for the Class of 2012.

Wing player Achie Goodwin, ranked in the top 25 nationally, Tweeted his commitment on Tuesday night. The Sylvan Hills (Little Rock, Ark.) guard is ranked as high as the No. 4 shooting guard in his class.

Goodwin is excited about being Calipari’s first recruit for the class.
“He told me he wants me bad and I’m a top recruit for him,” Goodwin told ESPN.com. “No matter what, he wants the ball in my hands and he feels like me committing will probably get the ball rolling for the rest of the class. It’s got to start somewhere.”

Goodwin eliminated UConn and Kansas and chose the Cats over Arkansas and Memphis.
