LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Many Kentucky fans will always remember the Christian Laettner shot that beat the Cats in the 1992 NCAA East Regional. It's part of the history between the schools that now dates back 20 years. That maybe too long ago for some of John Calipari's young players who will play Duke tomorrow night.
UK freshman Willie Cauley-Stein said today he was not aware of the Laettner shot. Cauley-Stein was not born until 1993. Coach John Calipari said it was really no surprise. "You can say George Mikan, Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson was the big guy who came to the game. They don't, that's just how it is, they know three years, three years ago they were fourteen.
Kentucky and DUke have not played since December 2001 when the Blue Devils won in overtime. Kentucky's last win came in 1998 when Tubby Smith's Cats rallied in the second half in St. Petersburg, earning a trip to the FInal Four.
