LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – Trey Lyles, a five-star power forward out of Arsenal Technical High School (Indianapolis), announced on Tuesday that he will play at Kentucky.
Lyles, who turned 18 on Tuesday, made his announcement live on ESPNU.
The highly-touted player is ranked No. 8 nationally in the Class of 2014 and considered a consensus top-10 player in the country by all of the recruiting services.
Lyles averaged 17.9 points, 12.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.3 blocked shots as a junior.
After originally committing to Indiana as a freshman, Lyles re-opened his recruitment last summer. He took an official visit to Louisville at the end of August. He visited Kentucky during the weekend of Big Blue Madness.
Scout.com national analyst Evan Daniels says the addition of Lyles gives UK’s class to the top of the 2014 rankings. John Calipari already has commitments from five-star center Karl Towns, Jr. and four-star guards Tyler Ulis and Deven Booker.
