Updated: Tue 10:03 PM, May 08, 2012

Former University of Kentucky pitching star Alex Meyer, a first round choice of the Washington Nationals in 2011, will return to Lexington this weekend as a member of the class A Hagerstown Suns. The Suns take on the Lexington Legends in a four-game series beginning Thursday night at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.

Meyer is scheduled to start Friday night’s game for Hagerstown. The Legends will counter with Nick Tropeano (pronounced Troh –pea- AH-no), who has twice been named South Atlantic League Pitcher of the Week in 2012. Game time at Whitaker Bank Ballpark is 7:05 p.m.

As a junior at UK in 2011, Meyer, a 6-foot-9 right-hander, led The Southeastern Conference in strikeouts with 110.
