LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – Kentucky center Nerlens Noel underwent surgery on Tuesday for a torn ACL and his coach says the procedure went well.

“Got a call from @NerlensNoel3 yesterday & put it on speakerphone so he could talk to the team. The surgery went well and he’s doing fine,” John Calipari announced via Twitter.

Noel suffered the season-ending knee injury on Feb. 12 in a game at Florida. Dr. James Andrews performed the surgery.

The coach also said it was important that the other Wildcat players hear from the SEC Freshman of the Year.

“It was great for his teammates to hear from him after surgery and I think it helped Nerlens too. I can’t wait to see him back on the court,” Calipari Tweeted.
