Pardue, Minter attend UK practice

It has been widely speculated that UK coach Joker Phillips will hire two new coaches within the coming days.

On Saturday, former LaGrange (Ga.) High School coach Steve Pardue, and former Cincinnati coach Rick Minter, were on the sidelines, decked out in UK gear, helping Phillips and his staff conduct practice at the UK indoor practice facility.

UK isn't allowed to comment on any new coaches until the hiring process has been completed. UK spokesperson Tony Neely said Phillips is allowed to hire temporary replacements during this time.

"We'll talk about the new coaches when the time comes," Phillips said after practice. "We've got some temp guys in here, working for us right now. Some high paid temp guys."

Earlier this week, Phillips fired defensive backs coach Chris Thurmond and running backs coach Larry Brinson.

Pardue is a native of Hopkinsville, Kentucky and was the head coach at LaGrange High School from 1994 until November, when he resigned.

Minter most recently was the linebackers coach at Indiana State. Minter also spent time at Marshall, Notre Dame and South Carolina. He was the head coach at Cincinnati from 1994-2003.
