UK-IU series comes to an end

Indiana has decided it won't sign a new contract to play Kentucky in men's basketball, ending a rivalry that has been played every year since 1969.

Hoosiers athletic director Fred Glass says the two schools could not agree on where games should be played.

The national champion Wildcats wanted the games played at off-campus sites in Louisville and Indianapolis, as they were from 1991 through 2005. Kentucky lost its only regular-season game last season at Indiana's Assembly Hall after Christian Watford hit a buzzer-beating 3-pointer to win it.

The Hoosiers prefer to keep the games on campus, where they've been played since 2006.

December's game was the last one on the current contract. Glass says Indiana would reconsider if the games stay on campus.
