UK Preferred Presidential Candidate answers questions on campus

It was a big day at the University of Kentucky as the preferred presidential candidate, Dr. Eli Capilouto was introduced publicly on campus for the first time. Throughout the course of the day, faculty, staff, and students participated in forums with Dr. Capilouto.

The forum covered a wide range of topics from campus life...

"I think that your education cannot be complete with just a classroom experience. To complete that education, I think you need a variety of student life and student support activities," says Dr. Capilouto.

To the Top 20 Plan....
"That plan represented to me big dreams, and I think it's important to dream."

To environmental issues....

"I feel like the big problems of our future, energy, water, health disparities, can be best informed by what goes on in a research university."

After the forum, Dr. Capilouto shook hands with students. UK student Tristan Root says Capilouto won him over.

"I think he's going to be here for us and he's going to do whatever he can to help us"

The student forum was the third event today. He also held forums with faculty and staff this morning.

The UK Board of Trustees will meet tomorrow to determine whether they'll extend a formal offer to Dr. Capilouto. If he's made president, he'll take over for Dr. Lee Todd on July 1.
