After playing 21 innings less than 24 hours ago, the Kentucky Wildcats knock off Valparaiso, 8-1, in a loser's bracket game of the NCAA Tournament in Gary, Ind.
Jerad Grundy pitched six innings for the Wildcats to pick up the win. Chandler Shepherd picked up his first save of the season, coming on in relief of Grundy, pitching three innings and not allowing a run.
The Wildcats lost a marathon game Friday night to Kent State. The 21 innings represented the second-longest game in NCAA Tournament history.
Kentucky banged out 12 hits. They will face the loser of Saturday's second game, between Kent State and Purdue, on Sunday at 4:00 p.m.
UK's 44 wins on the year ties the school record for a season.
