Kent State pushed across a run in the top of the 21st inning on Friday and then held on to defeat Kentucky 7-6 in the opening game of the NCAA Tournament in the Gary, Ind. Regional.
The game took more than six hours and 30 minutes to play. The 21 innings is the second-longest in NCAA Tournament history.
Kent State now has won 18 consecutive games.
Kentucky will face the loser of the second game in Gary, between Valparaiso and Purdue, on Saturday at 4:00 eastern.
