LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky hosts the Bettie Lou Evans Fall Invitational this weekend, Sept. 30- Oct. 2. The Invitational will be held at the University Club of Kentucky in Lexington
Kentucky plays host to Akron, Augusta State, Chattanooga, Florida Southern, Illinois, Jacksonville State, Kennesaw State, Marshall, Miami (Fla.), Michigan, Middle Tennessee State, Mississippi State, Murray State, Toledo and UCF.
The 27th annual Invitational began in 1979 before taking a four-year hiatus from 1998-2001 and one year breaks in 2008 and 2010. Kentucky has won the tradition-rich tournament 10 times, including five individual champions.
“We are excited about hosting the Bettie Lou Evans Fall Invitational this weekend,” UK head coach Golda Johansson Borst said. “It will be a good test for us to stay in the process and to stay in control of our emotions as we will have a home course advantage. We are looking forward to showing off our golf course and kicking off this yearly event”
The tournament will begin with the first round on Friday at 8:30 a.m. ET followed by the second round Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m. The first two rounds will be staggered starts with players teeing off every 10 minutes starting from holes one and 10. The Invitational will conclude Sunday with the final round beginning with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
The Cats come into the Bettie Lou Evans Fall Invitational ranked No. 16 in the country, according to Golfweek. This is the first time UK has been ranked in the top 20 during Borst’s tenure.
All Kentucky golfers competing in the team competition will tee off from the first hole starting with junior Megan Moir at 8:30 a.m. Junior Betsie Johnson will then tee off at 8:40 a.m., followed by junior Heather Lott, senior Ashlee Rose and junior Ashleigh Albrecht, respectively, every 10 minutes. Sophomore Liz Breed, who is competing as an individual, will tee off from the 10th tee at 9:20 a.m.
