Though Kentucky has handled Louisville, Western Kentucky and Akron by an average of 26 points, the Wildcats have failed to receive a single vote in the poll.

Updated: 09/16/2010 - Following Thursday morning’s practice, University of Kentucky head coach Joker Phillips complimented the consistently of sophomore placekicker Craig McIntosh, going so far to say that if the Akron game was Thursday, McIntosh would do the placekicking. “If we went today I think that we might go with McIntosh (for field goals and extra points) and (Joe) Mansour would be our kickoff guy,” Phillips said. “We have everybody just focusing on one phase.”

The senior admits there were times last year when he'd see the ball snapped and didn't move right away. "You're trying to read the defense, the keys and just trying to get a feel for the speed of the game," Matthews said. Matthews and the rest of Kentucky's receiving corps seem to be all caught up.

First-year head coach Joker Phillips held what he termed a “mini game” at practice Thursday to get his team prepared mentally for the game. Phillips said that the mental practice started slow on both sides of the ball but he really liked the way the team finished strong, especially the special teams portion.
