UK softball headed to NCAA

Updated: 05/17/2010 - After ringing up its second consecutive 30-win season the Kentucky softball team was once again selected as an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament it was announced Sunday night on a live telecast by ESPNU. Kentucky (31-25) will head north to a familiar site for its historical second straight run at the NCAA title. The Wildcats were picked to play in the Columbus, Ohio, regional – the same site as last year’s first trip to the national tournament. UK will meet the host Buckeyes in the opening round matchup on Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Softball Wildcats fall on walk-off homer

Posted: 05/13/2010 - FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – In what appeared to look like another fairy tale ending at the Southeastern Conference tournament for the Kentucky softball team resulted in heartbreak. Owning a 1-0 lead off of a Molly Johnson home run and in the middle of the seventh inning with a pair of base runners on the paths, severe weather moved into the area and halted the game. After a 2 hour and 33 minute wait before play resumed, LSU smacked a two-run walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh to advance to the semi-finals Friday.
