Updated: 12/28/2009 - UK men’s basketball player DeMarcus Cousins was named the SEC Freshman of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday. Cousins, a 6-11 forward from Mobile, Ala., averaged 16.5 points and 11.5 rebounds in leading the Wildcats to wins over Drexel and Long Beach State. Cousins had 33 points and 23 rebounds in only 27 minutes on the week.

Well, the 68-year-old coach apparently is ready to call it a career. After the game, Brooks said he told the team he's probably not returning next season. Brooks said he's "80 percent" sure he's not coming back. Last January, Kentucky announced that offensive coordinator Joker Phillips will take over as head coach when Brooks steps down.
