Wall Again SEC Freshman of the Week

Updated: 12/08/2009 - UK men’s basketball player John Wall was named the SEC Freshman of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday. The honor was the third straight SEC Freshman of the Week honor for Wall. The Wildcats have won all four weekly freshman honors from the conference office this season, beginning with Eric Bledsoe in the first week and Wall the last three weeks.

Blackwelder earns LPGA status

Updated: 12/08/2009 - Former University of Kentucky women’s golfer Mallory Blackwelder earned LPGA category 20 status Monday after completing Qualifying School with a 4-over-par 364 (74-72-74-72-72) at LPGA International. Blackwelder combines with her mother, Myra Blackwelder, a 17-year LPGA veteran and current head coach at Kentucky, to become the first mother/daughter duo in tour history.

UK tailback Derrick Locke was named to the second team All-SEC offense. Tackle Corey Peters and linebacker Sam Maxwell were named All-SEC second team defense. Offensive tackle Zipp Duncan received honorable mention.

Clemson (8-5) missed out on the Atlantic Coast Conference championship with a 39-34 loss to No. 10 Georgia Tech on Saturday.
