I was born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee and knew from a very early age that a career in journalism was for me. I was fascinated by newsmen of the day – particularly Max Robinson- and wanted to know how the whole “t.v. thing” worked. My sister and I used to put on newscasts for our parents and whoever else would listen. In fact, my parents still have some of those tapes today.
I started working in newsrooms during my study at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. My goal was to learn as much as possible, make contacts and graduate with real news experience under my belt. It worked – and three weeks after graduation, I began as a reporter at WMAZ-TV in Macon, Georgia. Six months later, I was promoted to weekend anchor. In Macon, I sharpened my fact-finding, writing, and presentation skills and truly learned what it took to be a solid reporter and anchor.
Three years later (and newly married) I accepted a position as reporter/anchor at the WJXX-TV in Jacksonville, Florida. I remained there until the birth of my daughter, Camryn. It was then I decided to take time to raise our family. I left the newsroom in 1999. Two years later, my son, Devin came into our lives. Since my departure from the newsroom, I’ve worked as a freelance on camera talent, writer, and producer for various organizations including Maxwell House, the Jacksonville Jaguars, and Florida Hospital. We moved to Lexington in the summer of 2007 in order to be closer to our families in Tennessee and Alabama.
I am blessed with an amazing husband, Dave, and two wonderful kids. My idea of a great day is spending time with them and our extended family. I am excited to join a news team with such a wonderful history of community involvement and service. The people of Lexington have welcomed us with open arms and I am excited to become involved in all that this beautiful area has to offer.
