Stacy Ellison is the co-anchor of "27 Newsfirst This Morning," weekdays from 5 to 7 a.m. on WKYT. She joined the WKYT news team in the fall of 2007. Stacy has more than 18 years of experience not only in television news, but also, in public relations and commercial production. Before returning to the newsroom in 2007, she served as a spokesperson and on camera talent for numerous organizations including the NFL, the Florida Department of Health, and Maxwell House.
Stacy says, "I love mornings because it allows you the opportunity to share more of your personality and really connect with the viewer in a great way. Another plus for me is that working this very early shift allows me to be at home when my children come home from school. Sure, that 3:15 a.m. alarm clock is never a great thing. But, for me, it works!"
Although she has interviewed presidential candidates, music legends, and sports standouts, she most remembers stories like those of a central Georgia man bravely battling a devastating disease, a Florida woman who saved her neighbor's child from being kidnapped at the neighborhood bus stop, or a central Kentucky man who has lost more than 300 pounds.
"I believe the stories people most remember aren't the ones about crime or corruption. They are most often the stories of ordinary people who find themselves in extraordinary situations," she says.
Stacy is a native of Knoxville, Tenn., and a graduate of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She is married and has two children. She is an avid reader and lists "To Kill A Mockingbird," "The Walk," and "Cane River" as some of her favorite books. She counts her faith, family, and friends as the most important elements of her life.
