Melissa Etezadi joined WKYT from the lovely city of Bellevue, Wash., and she is a true Washingtonian through and through.
Melissa graduated from Seattle University with a major in business management. After working in the industry for a year, she got the itch to do something different so she decided to pursue her dream of becoming a journalist.
That is when her journey began.
Melissa packed her bags and moved 280 miles south to a town called Eugene, Oregon, where she got her first TV job. There she worked as a morning producer, learning all the ins and outs of what it takes to put together a newscast. "I can truly say it was the most beneficial learning experience to date," says Melissa.
After only being in Eugene a few short months Melissa got an offer to work at our sister station WYMT in eastern Kentucky. It was an offer she could not refuse so once again she packed her bags and traveled 3,000 miles to the beautiful Bluegrass state. "Almost a year later I got the opportunity to join the WKYT family and again it was an opportunity I couldn't turn down."
Being the only girl in her family, Melissa grew up solely on sports and outdoor activities so she is excited to explore all the fun adventures Kentucky has to offer. "My parents and two brothers still live in Bellevue but enjoy visiting the Bluegrass state. They say Kentuckians are the nicest people they've ever met and I agree," says Melissa
Melissa is elated that she gets to continue her career at WKYT and can not wait to bring you all the latest and greatest in central Kentucky. If you have a story you want heard - email her at Melissa.Etezadi@wkyt.com.
