Reporter

Jerrika was born and raised in the small town of Mayfield in western Kentucky. She completed her secondary education and then attended the University of Kentucky where she graduated with a degree in broadcast journalism and communications.

She landed her first reporting job in June 2011 at our sister station WYMT in the mountains of eastern Kentucky. While reporting at WYMT, she was awarded "Best Spot News" by the Kentucky Associated Press for her coverage of a major apartment complex fire that left several families homeless days before Christmas. She also received an honorable mention for "Best Continuing Coverage" of her stories on a controversy at an eastern Kentucky church that went national. While at WYMT, she worked as our weekend reporter for more than a year, so she might look familiar! When a spot at our station became available, Jerrika says, "I could not turn it down! It is what I have been working towards for years now."

She is more than excited to be back in Lexington where everyone bleeds blue. She looks forward to covering the news, people's stories, and what matters to our viewers in this beautiful area of the Bluegrass State. She sees this job as an opportunity to grow both as a person and a news reporter.

Jerrika plans to continue her life as normal in Lexington keeping busy telling people's stories, enjoying some exercise, meeting new people, and staying involved with the University of Kentucky as an alumni.
