A Kentucky native and Cats fan, Tamara is now excited to call Lexington her home. Tamara is originally from Bowling Green, Kentucky, where her family still lives. When she isn't in Lexington or visiting friends, you can find her with her family back home. She has a lot of nieces and nephews she has to visit! A big Kentucky fan, she's sure to fit in well in Lexington. (A fun fact: When Tamara's mom was in high school, Travis Ford's parents lived nearby in Webster County, so her mom babysat Travis Ford a few times when he was a toddler. This is why Tamara grew up watching and loving UK basketball!)

Tamara first started college at the University of Kentucky before finishing her degree in broadcast news at Western Kentucky University, where she was named to the Hall of Distinguished Seniors. While at WKU, Tamara was offered a job at WBKO where she worked as a weekday reporter and weekend anchor for the last three and a half years before making the move to Lexington.

During her time at WBKO, Tamara received a number of awards from the Associated Press for her reporting, including first place awards for “best light news feature” and “best continuing coverage,” second place awards for “best spot news” and “best hard news feature,” and an honorable mention for “best investigative reporting.” She also received two national awards while in college at WKU, including a third place national award from the Society of Professional Journalists for “best breaking news.”

In Tamara's spare time she loves catching up on her sleep, cheering on the WKU Hilltoppers and the Kentucky Wildcats (You'll see her wearing red and blue when they play!), traveling to visit friends, and shopping. She also enjoys hearing from viewers, so if you have a comment or email suggestion, or just want to say hello, make sure to write her at tamara.evans@wkyt.com.
