Name: Miranda Combs
Email Address: Miranda.Combs@wkyt.com

I was born here in Kentucky, actually at Central Baptist Hospital to be exact. My mother and father and I lived in Paris, KY and then moved to London, KY. (the joke in the family is that we moved from Paris to London without crossing any large bodies of water). When I was five, my mother and I moved to Marietta, GA. That's where I started and finished my school days.

I gained a love of broadcasting from an early age. I continued to visit my father (Don Combs, Grayson) and grandparents (Manley and Christine Combs and Gene Combs, all of Winchester) on a regular basis throughout my childhood--and therefore always watched KYT.

I continued my education at Florida State University, majoring in broadcast communications and minoring in journalism. During my time at FSU, I interned at Florida's News Channel, WCTV-CBS, CNN, and even spent a summer back in my roots at KYT. It was that internship at KYT that lit the 'journalism spark' within me that continues to burn today.

I graduated from FSU, magna cum laude, and did as most broadcasting majors do, which is take a job wherever you can get one. That landed me in Joplin, Missouri. I was a reporter and frequent fill-in anchor for the CBS affiliate, KOAM.

What I realized while in the midwest was the true importance of having family near-by--people you can always count on and love you unconditionally--that's what drove me back to the Bluegrass--back to where, not only I began, but also where my hunger for news began. Some people in this industry never make it back to the place where they feel at 'home'. I have been fortunate enough to make it, and am thankful everyday.

As for the 'Miranda' outside of work, I'm an only child, most of my memories growing up come from Lake Cumberland. My family is full of avid boaters (I learned to water-ski when I was 7 years old).
