I hail from Georgetown, Ohio, a small town about an hour’s drive from Cincinnati, along the edge of the Ohio River Valley. In high school, I was active in band and theatre, as well as my local Boy Scout troop. It must have been in the scouts that I learned to take an active role in my community and country. I remember watching the news very closely, especially political coverage. I have voted in every election since I became old enough to do so, and I view it as a civic duty.

With that background, you would think I would have gone to school to study political science. The truth is, I didn’t know which direction I wanted to go when I came to Morehead State University. However, it was there that I fell in love with journalism. I took a job at Morehead State Public Radio, where I gained real-life, hands-on broadcasting experience from some of the best in the business. Who knew I would one day turn my passion for civic involvement into a career? Certainly not me!

That brings us to the summer of 2012, when I got the call from WYMT. I had never really considered working in television before, but I jumped at the opportunity for new challenges. I have to say I’m loving it here in the mountains. Eastern Kentucky is a beautiful place filled with friendly people. Thanks for giving a Yankee boy a chance to follow his dream!

When I’m not at work, I enjoy running, bicycling, and other outdoorsy stuff. I like to read, and I’m a big movie buff. Feel free to follow me on Facebook and Twitter, and please send me your story ideas!
